A fantastic Band 5 job opportunity has arisen for you to join our Critical Care family at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH).
We have opportunities available at our Critical Care Units at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.
There are up to 7 fixed term/secondment opportunities available across both sites, for a registered nurse with acute care experience, who are looking to develop their skills and knowledge further. Internal staff looking for a secondment post MUST gain authorisation from their current manager / Matron before applying.
We are looking for caring and compassionate nurses with high standards of care to join our team. We require staff who excel in working in a multi-disciplinary team and who have high standards of care as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills to ensure quality for our patients.
We desire staff who have a genuine interest in caring for the critically ill adult and their families, who are able to prioritise care in acute deterioration, whilst upholding the Trust Values each day.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of individualised patient care, working in partnership with patients, their carers and the multi-disciplinary team to ensure the patient's physical, spiritual and emotional needs are met. Recognise changes in patients' conditions which require the intervention of others and ensure that timely referrals are made or escalation procedures enacted as appropriate. Ensuring high quality care and compassion is given to all our critical care patients and their carers. Communicate sensitively, confidentially and with empathy to meet the wide ranging physical and emotional needs of patients and their carers and families. Adhere to hospital and unit policies and procedures, regarding Infection control, health and safety and managing risk. Continuing Professional Development and studying for competencies, as this is an essential part of the role.
We value training and development highly on our unit, and we will support you to complete your mentorship course and training as part of your development. This is in addition to monthly training on the unit related to various topics including advanced equipment and of course, your statutory and mandatory training.

We work as one team despite being across two sites. These positions will require cross site working and / or supporting the general wards across the trust.
