Job summary
We are delighted to be recruiting for an Administrator to join our friendly and supportive Administration Team at Helston Community Hospital.
This is a varied and rewarding role, where you will work as part of a busy team supporting both the inpatient ward and main reception. The post offers a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a dynamic working environment and taking on a range of administrative duties.
The position is part-time, working 22.5 hours per week. Shifts are 7.5 hours and will include evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays, worked on a rota basis. Please note that working days cannot be fixed. A uniform will be provided.
The successful postholder will rotate between the inpatient ward and the main reception, providing a high-quality administrative service to patients, visitors and staff.
Main duties of the job
Acting as a first point of contact, both face-to-face and via telephone Supporting ward administration and reception duties Managing patient information and ensuring records are accurate and up to date Responding to queries and directing patients and visitors appropriately Supporting the wider team with general administrative tasks You will need to be highly organised, with excellent attention to detail, and able to prioritise your workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Education/Qualifications & Experience Essential
Basic numeracy and literacy skills Knowledge and experience of using Microsoft office or similar applications NVQ or RSA 2 or equivalent experience Experience of working in a very busy reception area Experience of managing electronic and paper-based diary / appointment systems Healthcare / NHS administrative experience
Skills and Aptitude Essential
Word processing and data inputting skills Ability to communicate clearly by telephone and face to face with a range of people including patients, health & social care professionals and the public Experience of working in a very busy reception area
Knowledge and abilities Essential
Ability to use initiative when dealing with queries
