As a Kitchen Assistant, your primary role will be to support the catering function in food preparation and ensure a clean environment for safe food production. Key responsibilities include understanding safe food handling principles, contributing positively to team efforts, advising on supplies and quality of materials, and treating residents with dignity and respect. We seek individuals who embody values of care, support, honesty, respect, and accountability. The ideal candidate will possess a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, be knowledgeable in Health and Safety, and demonstrate high standards of personal hygiene. Additionally, being efficient, showing initiative, and having a caring attitude are essential. A DBS Disclosure check is required, provided by Avery Healthcare at no cost to you.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Your focus as Kitchen Assistant is tosupportthe catering function in food preparation and maintaining a clean environment for the safe production of beverages and meals, ensuring a high quality and comprehensive service is delivered to residents.
Other responsibilitieswillinclude:
Understandingthe principles of safe food handling, to ensure all food preparations undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene. Contributingfully to team working, responding positively tocolleagues,and actioning all reasonable work instructions promptly. Advisingon the supply and quality of items used to carry out tasks, ensuring thetimelyandappropriate orderingof replacement goods. Actingaccordingly towards residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident.

Our ideal candidate must:
Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate anddemonstrateshigh standardsof personal hygiene. Have theknowledge of Health and Safety, particularly Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety and COSHH assessments. Be an efficient worker, capable ofa high levelof sustained physical effort and able torespond to a demandingworkload. Demonstrate initiative and display a positive and flexible aptitude to team working. Exhibit a caring andunderstanding attitude towards the residents.

Qualifications Essential
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, knowledge of Health and Safety, high standards of personal hygiene, knowledge of Moving and Handling techniques, Fire Safety, and COSHH assessments.
