The Hertfordshire Special Care Dental service are looking for two Team Leader roles to support expansion of our nationally award winning service.

Previous experience of working in a special care dental team is desirable but not an essential requirement.

Main duties of the job

To ensure outstanding patient care is delivered by the whole team. To work together with other Team Leaders, Senior Dental Officers, Senior Dental Nurses, the Service Manager and Clinical Director in order to deliver a high quality, safe and effective Special Care Dental Service. To lead on designated aspects of the service as delegated by the Service Manager and Clinical Director. To provide managerial supervision, professional supervision and professional support, as required by the service in line with local policies and procedures. To participate in the development of innovative approaches and the delivery of service improvement projects.

Responsible for the day-to-day management of the team including, as delegated, managing leave on e-roster, ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained and clinics have accurate numbers of staff to ensure the clinics run smoothly and a high standard of care provision are achieved meeting client expectations. Recruitment and retention of staff within the respective team, ensuring induction timetables are planned and executed. Ensure the policies and procedures of HCT are implemented and adhered to at all times and that team members are familiar with them. Responsible for ensuring that staff perform effectively and safely meeting the requirements of the post, taking appropriate action as necessary including completion of Incident Reporting and Risk Assessments following discussion with the Service Manager or Clinical Director. Participate in the recruitment, selection and interview process using the TRACs System. Support the Clinical Director and the Service Manager with the development of services, performance capability, governance initiatives and the development of policy and practice. Person Specification

Training and Qualifications Essential

Registered Dental Nurse/Nurse or Allied Professional.

Desirable

A qualification and/or training in clinical leadership Experience working with patients who have special needs

Experience Essential

Experience of providing Line Management including pastoral support. Experience of initiating service development which led to a positive change. Experience of leading a team. Experience of dealing with a difficult conversation. Experience of managing rotas and managing staff sickness.

Desirable

Experience of working in a dental setting.

Knowledge and Skills Essential

High level of communication skills (written and verbal). Digital competency.

Desirable

Experience of dental software R4

Personal Abilities Essential

Ability to support good team working. Good organisational skills and an ability to manage own workload. Ability to work independently, reliably, and consistently.

Other Specifications Essential

Willingness to uphold the Trust's values. Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)
