About this role

Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic GP or Specialty Doctor with experience in urgent and emergency care to join our dynamic team.at the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) based at the Royal London Hospital site in Whitechapel. The UTC provides same-day assessment and treatment for patients presenting with minor illnesses and injuries that are urgent but not life threatening.

You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team including Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Nurses, and support staff. There is range of services we offer under IUPC which involves UTC, SPA, OOH and CAS 111 service.

Main duties of the job

Provide high-quality, patient-centred care for urgent but non-life-threatening conditions.Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of minor illnesses and injuries.All clinicians must maintain up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS) training. Immediate Life Support (ILS) is desirable and supported by the service.Work collaboratively with the Emergency Department, Secondary Care, Primary Care, and community services.Recognise early signs of serious illness or deterioration, initiate urgent management where appropriate, and escalate promptly to ED or specialty teams.Contribute to the development of clinical pathways and service improvements.Participate in clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.

Job description Job responsibilities

Clinical Governance:

Provide clinical care that adheres to the recognised protocols and procedures indicative of excellence in general practice Provide safe and efficient medical care in accordance with both the nationally and locally agreed standards and principles for the Urgent Treatment Centre..Respond appropriately to the medical problems and concerns reported by patients or their carers.Ensure the administrative team are made aware of any cases that need to be highlighted to the registered GP surgery the following working day e.g. an urgent review required.Promote and maintain a culture of continuous improvement, patient safety, and clinical excellence.Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:

Work with all relevant stakeholders e.g. the UTC management, UTC ANPs, HUB Management and Clinicians, ED Management and Clinicians etc to identify risks and actions to mitigate these risks.Liaise with allied and community services including London Ambulance, Accident and Emergency, Social Services Duty Team, 111, CHS community health services Mental Health Teams, Palliative Care Community Teams and Out of Hours Teams as necessary to support a good patient journey.

Person Specification

Other Essential

Awareness of NHS urgent and emergency care strategies, with willingness to familiarise with local pathways.

Skills & Abilities Essential

All clinicians are required to maintain up-to-date Basic Life Support (BLS) as a minimum.

Qualifications Essential

Inclusion on the National Medical Performers List (essential for GP applicants). For non-CCT/SAS applicants, evidence of equivalent urgent care experience and appraisal/revalidation arrangements is required. CCT (desirable), but Senior SAS (Specialty and Associate Specialist) also considered. And full unrestricted registration with GMC and hold a Licence to Practice.

Experience Essential

Current experience of working as a GP or non-CCT doctor (Senior SAS Specialty and Associate Specialist) with substantial experience in Urgent and/or OOH care settings.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
