About this role

Job summary

To be part of a team of lead nurses in Critical Care providing effective, professional nursing leadership and direction for the nursing workforce and the wider department team.

Through ownership of their clinical area be accountable for developing, implementing, driving, and monitoring the Quality & Safety agenda and to monitor standards across clinical areas in leadership exchange/partnership initiatives.

You will be joining a team of B7 Lead Nurses within Critical Care. Each one having ownership and accountability for designated areas of responsibility, with an expectation of an ability to manage all aspects of unit management required. The role will retain clinical care and leadership and will involve direct patient care.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of the band 7 team providing effective, professional nursing leadership and direction for the nursing workforce and the wider department team.

The Band 7 leadership team work together to support the Clinical Matron in delivering the Trust's strategic plan and drive service improvements. We want you to bring innovative and progressive ideas to improve patient care and contribute to the strategic development of the clinical area.

You will be an inspirational leader and provide direction to the wider department team as well as acting as a role model for excellence. As a clinical expert you will also be flexible in your approach, have outstanding communication and organisation skills and most importantly have our Trust values at the forefront of your nursing vision.

Person Specification

Professional Qualifications Essential

RN and/or RM Registration Educated to degree level. Critical Care/Intensive care course and completed Step 3 competency. Paediatric Experience/evidence of pursuing paediatric competency.

Desirable

Possession of relevant mentorship/education/ teaching certification. Speciality post registration certificate or equivalent.

Prior Critical Care Experience Essential

Evidence of experience within Critical Care. Evidence of leading a team

Desirable

Performance development review participation and training attended.
