Job summary
Breast Imaging Lead Radiographer, Band 8a (22.5 hours a week)
The post holder ensures delivery of safe, high-quality, and responsive imaging services that meet national standards, targets and performance indicators. The role includes day-to-day operational management of multidisciplinary teams, service planning, workforce development, and continuous improvement to optimise patient care and access.
This is a key leadership role within the Trust, offering the opportunity to shape and develop services in line with national guidance while contributing to improved outcomes and patient experience across Gloucestershire.

Main duties of the job
Lead and manage the Breast Imaging Service across screening and symptomatic pathways, ensuring delivery of safe, high-quality care in line with national standards. Oversee day-to-day operations, workforce management and service performance, including meeting activity and waiting time targets. Drive service improvement, development and innovation, working closely with multidisciplinary teams and regional partners. Provide clinical leadership in mammography, support staff development and training, and promote a culture of continuous quality improvement and excellent patient experience.

Our Breast Imaging department is a welcoming and supportive environment, equipped with four state-of-the-art digital mammography units, all offering Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) to enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient care. We also provide Contrast Enhanced Mammography (CEM), enabling advanced assessment within the service. In addition to our static sites, we operate two modern mobile units, bringing high-quality screening services closer to our communities across Gloucestershire.
