Job summary
Patient Safety Partners are patients, carers, family members or other lay people who are recruited to work in partnership with staff to influenceand improve the governance and leadership of safety within an NHS organisation.
This is an exciting role, supported by NHS England to provide support and advice to the Trust, playing a key role in the development of a patient safety culture, safety systems and improvement activity.

Job description Job responsibilities
A patient safety partner (PSP) is actively involved in the design of safer healthcare at all levels in the organisation. This may include variousactivities in safety governance such as; Becoming members of the safety and quality committee, whose responsibilities include the review and analysis of safety data. Considering how safety issues should be addressed. Providing appropriate challenge to ensure learning and change follows. Supporting the development and implementation of relevant strategies and policies. Being Involved in patient safety improvement projects. Working with patient safety specialist to consider how to improve safety. Being involved in staff patient safety training. Participating in patient safety investigation oversight groups. Supporting effective safety governance at all levels in the organisation.PSPs should ensure that any committee/group of which they are a member considers and prioritises the service user, patient, carer and familyperspective and champions a diversity of views.
