Job summary
The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department of NorthWest Anglia NHS Foundation Trust serves a catchment population of approximately 700,000. The Trust Registrar will work under the close supervision of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Consultants and will assist in delivering comprehensive medical care for Gastroenterology in-patients with regular ward rounds and undertake regular Gastroenterology clinics. There will be an opportunity to train in diagnostic and therapeutic and procedures. In addition, the Trust Registrar will manage the acute unselected medical take as part of the on call Medical rota.
This is a fixed term post to cover maternity leave up to 1st July 2027
Main duties of the job
The Successful candidate will be expected to:
Gain experience in diagnostic amd therapeutic -
o Gastroscopy
o Sigmoidoscopy
o Colonoscopy
Management of Chronic Gastroenterology conditions, including IBD and Hepatology clinics
Attend Nutrition Ward Round
Attend MDT meetings and Xray meetings
To provide medical cover for the patients under the care of the Gastroenterologists on the A10 ward and participate in the management of Gastroenterology outpatients. Also to see Gastroenterology referrals under consultant supervision.
The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the firm's teaching commitments to undergraduates of the Universities of Leicester and Cambridge.
Active participation in clinical audit and QIP is encouraged in the job plan.
Participate in the on-call commitment to for acute unselected medical take at registrar level under consultant supervision is required. All routine commitments are cancelled while on-call.

Education & Qualifications Essential
MBBS or equivalent Basic Life Support Course Full GMC Registration with license to practice MRCP
Experience & Knowledge Essential
Must have completed Core medical training Must have 2 years of Gastroenterology experience at ST level Able to demonstrate an understanding of the requirements of Clinical Governance and safe working
