LOCUM CONSULTANT IN GENERAL ANAESTHESIA

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Anaesthetist to join a rapidly expanding anaesthetic department working across the University Hospital of Wales and University Hospital Llandough sites in Cardiff.

Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University's Wales College of Medicine will be expected. The Anaesthetic Department has a very active ongoing academic research programme.

Cardiff and Vale Health Board is one of the largest in the UK and is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.

Although this posts is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.

Applicants should be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Anaesthetics or be within 6 months of award of a CCT at the time of interview.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the general work of the Department including cover for Consultant colleagues where practical. This includes working flexibly to maintain skilled consultant cover for emergency service provision.Sessions are available in a variety of surgical disciplines including Geneal, Vascular, Neuro, Urology, Orthopaedics, ENT Head and Neck, Ophthalmology, Trauma, Major Trauma, Breast, Thrombectomy and Gynaecological Surgery.

Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice On Specialist Register for specialty / Specialty Registrar with CCT / CESR(CP) due within six months of interview date

Experience Essential

Broad training and experience in Anaesthetics
