About this role

Job summary

We are looking for a self-motivated enthusiastic person to join our estates team in Singleton Hospital as a senior maintenance assistant. Candidates ideally would have some experience of basic maintenance tasks.If you feel you possess the right skills and meet the person specification you are encouraged to apply.To undertake routine maintenance and repair of a range of building services, plant, equipment, building structures, external and internal works and finishes within the Health Board to ensure a safe and pleasant environment for patients, visitors and staff. To provide maintenance support to all craft trades and provide a semi-skilled maintenance service to Swansea Bay University Health Board. This job will involve working on sewerage and food waste pipework so a strong sense of working in this environment is required for this position. This job will involve working on a on call rota as part of out of hours cover for the main site with all other health board premises.

Main duties of the job

Required to assist other Estate's craft staff in building services maintenance as required and organise daily routine to incorporate regular task requirements and schedule work requirements to the most efficient way, with guidance from line managers.

Understanding the drainage systems of the Singleton Estates premises and being able to unblock any drainage problems.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Knowledge Essential

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience in a building subject or engineering.

Desirable

Literacy and Numeracy L1 or equivalent

Other Essential Criteria Essential

Possess a full driving licence

Experience Essential

Appropriate working experience/ training including the safe use of tools and equipment Experience of working in a maintenance environment

Experience of working within the NHS
