Job summary
Wantage Midwifery Led Unit is part of the Wantage community hospital. It has a wonderful, homely atmosphere with a birthing pool room for women choosing to birth in the community. There is a small yet dedicated team of midwives and support workers who provide care for birthing people and their families in the surrounding area. Wantage is a lovely and upcoming town in South Oxfordshire, ideal for families and ongoing transport links to London and the South coast.
Across Oxfordshire, we have four freestanding birth centres--located in Banbury, Chipping Norton, Wantage, and Wallingford--alongside a homebirth service. Our community birth rate is above the current national average at 5%.
As a member of the Wantage team, you will join the community on-call rota to support the community birth service; our high birth rate offers frequent opportunities to attend community births. We also enable staff to take shifts on the main delivery suite if they wish to maintain or broaden their skills and knowledge.
Applicants must have an existing NMC with UK Midwifery experience and have completed their preceptorship in a UK hospital. They must be currently working at a Band 6 level
Main duties of the job
The postholder is required to provide holistic midwifery care to services users across the antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum period within the Wantage Area and surrounding areas of Oxfordshire. They will provide care in the form of clinic appointments and home visits.
Full and Part Time hours are available. Must be a car driver and have access to a car during the day and for night on-calls. You will be required to work community on-call shifts during the day and night time.
