As Resident Medical Officer, you'll play a crucial role providing on call cover for Cygnet Hospital Hexham located in Hexham, Northumberland
The RMO is the Doctor onsite covering on calls between 5pm and 9am on weekdays and 9am -9am weekend shifts. Generally the RMO will work on a rota of 4 days on / 3 days off every week.
Main duties of the job
Cygnet Hospital Hexham is our 27 bed mental health facility for women with complex mental health needs. The hospital has been designed to improve mental health within a therapeutic environment.
Situated amongst the soft fields and meadows of the Tyne valley, which is known for its abbey, leafy parks, and mix of independent shops, the hospital provides an important and much-needed service for women within the North East of England.
As part of our continued efforts to improve care and treatment pathways, the hospital benefits from a highly experienced team of mental health professionals and support staff, which include consultant psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses across RMN and RGN disciplines, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and support workers.

The hospital is built to meet the latest national specifications for improving mental health within a therapeutic environment.

We are looking for someone who is...
Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified An excellent clinical decision maker, with sound judgement, the ability to manage risk & know when to ask for help Preferably experienced in Psychiatry Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes Committed to continued professional development
