Medical Education Undergraduate Clinical Educator for child and adolescent health
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 30 hour Band 6 Clinical educator to deliver child and adolescent health to the medical students.
The medical education clinical educator role within undergraduate medical education is part of a well-established team delivering clinical teaching to medical students across the five years of the Newcastle and HYMS curricula
The clinical educator will independently lead the undergraduate curriculum in child and adolescent health in collaboration with the clinical teaching lead, deliver training sessions, evaluate and plan future education within the medical curriculum delivered at STFT. They will have core specialist skills in child and adolescent health and act as an autonomous practitioner and source of expertise in these areas to students, colleagues and patients
Main duties of the job
The core functions of this post are:
To provide specialist undergraduate education and training, developing specialist programmes of care, leading the delivery within child and adolescent health To provide leadership of medical education curriculum to UG/ To provide management of the medical education calendar in relation to the specialty to ensure all education goals are met within the academic/ training year To ensure stakeholder involvement in service development (University, student, Health Education England HEE), review and revalidation To comply with all regulatory guidance for medical education (Internal STFT, University, HEE and Royal College) To design, develop, co-ordinate and deliver programmes of teaching and learning for undergraduate medical students in child an adolescent health within an inter-professional educational context. To plan, facilitate and deliver teaching to undergraduate medical students with patients in the classroom and ward or clinic environment, including history taking, clinical examination, clinical skills, simulation based teaching and advanced communication skills

Knowledge and Skills Essential
oSignificant post registration experience in a paediatric clinical setting oProven experience of delivering clinical skills training & support in a variety of settings oExperience & ability in using a wide range of blended learning approaches including simulation oProven skills in delivery, facilitation and development of training programmes oAbility to provide supervised practice to all levels of staff & provide effective feedback oAbility to respond to or escalate clinical questions/queries from all levels of clinical staff oCan demonstrate an awareness & implementation of Risk Management & Clinical Governance strategies oDemonstrate ability to organise and prioritise situations and workload oAwareness of current issues in health care, Standards of Professional Practice/policy & legislative requirements
Experience Essential
oClinical experience of working with children and young people oEvidence of teaching experience oEvidence of exposure to different groups/teaching methods. oKnowledge of undergraduate curriculum oExperience or an interest in E learning and social media oCan demonstrate skill & competence in training using simulation oUnderstanding of Clinical Governance oAwareness of NHS Policy and Development
