About this role

Job summary

Are you looking for a new opportunity for flexible working? Are you a state registered Paediatric Audiologist wanting to develop your skills in a new setting?

We are seeking reliable, hardworking pro-active individuals who thrive in a busy environment but want to work in a safe and supportive team. You will need to have proven track record of training and experience in paediatric audiology. We can offer flexible placements to align with your expertise, with opportunities in Paediatric diagnostic testing and (re)habilitation for all ages of children.

Placement opportunities will be predominantly in core hours (Mon- Fri 8-6) but there may be possibilities for weekend working. We are currently offering enhanced AFC rates.

You must have STP in Audiology or equivalent HTS modules.

Main duties of the job

This post is concerned with:

The provision of a comprehensive audiology service within the context of the wider department. Carrying out a range of diagnostic audiological tests including ABR testing in neonates. Providing a comprehensive (re)habilitation service to 0-18-year-olds with hearing loss / deafness. Providing a comprehensive (re)habilitation service to adults with hearing loss / deafness. Provision of (re)habilitative services to adults and children with complex needs. Maintaining own professional knowledge and contribute to the clinical developments of the department. Using knowledge and experience in the training and supervision of junior staff and departmental trainees. Working independently.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

MSc in Audiology or equivalent (or assessed study in Adult Rehabilitation Audiology at M-level) Scientific Training Programme qualification (or equivalent) State registration (or working towards this if not yet eligible)

Experience Essential

Extensive experience in general audiology post-qualification Significant specialist experience in adult rehabilitation Significant experience in paediatric Audiology Experience in audit and service development

Desirable

Evidence of autonomous and unsupervised working Experience with complex adult rehabilitation caseload, e.g. unilateral hearing loss, severe / profound hearing loss, tinnitus

Knowledge Essential

In- depth working knowledge of relevant national standards, policies, professional recommendations and guidelines Detailed knowledge of hearing aids and their processing strategies and other relevant new technologies

Skills Essential

Advanced skills in adult and paediatric auditory rehabilitation and specialist tests of hearing function Computer-literate, with good keyboard skills Ability to extract clinical information from and communicate complex technical explanations to patients and carers

Desirable

Ability and willingness to lead, offer opinions and direction in an effective team-spirited manner Advanced research skills

Additional Requirements Essential

The ability to understand and behave at all times, towards patients, visitors and colleagues according to the Trust values of Safe, Kind, Excellent.
