Our team delivers specialist wound care across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire, where your expertise will directly impact patients at some of their most vulnerable moments. You'll work across clinic and domiciliary settings, providing highly specialist assessment, treatment, and management to high-risk, complex wounds. All while playing a key role in shaping how care is delivered.
This is a chance to work collaboratively with other leads within the service and multidisciplinary teams, including participation in secondary care diabetes foot clinics, and play a key role in the development, education, and governance of Podiatry wound care services.

Main duties of the job
Provides advanced assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with complex and high-risk wound care needs, managing a specialist caseload across community clinics and domiciliary settings in South Gloucestershire. Develops and delivers evidence-based, personalised care plans, closely monitoring wound progression and identifying early signs of deterioration. Utilises digital technology, including an AI-supported wound care app, to remotely review non-healing wounds and ensure timely intervention.
Acts as a clinical leader within wound care, offering specialist advice to colleagues and partner organisations while supporting service improvement and clinical excellence. Contributes to the development and implementation of clinical pathways and protocols, ensuring care aligns with best practice.
Works collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, including participation in secondary care diabetic foot clinics alongside diabetes and vascular specialists, to provide integrated care across BNSSG. Builds strong working relationships with stakeholders to support seamless patient pathways.
Leads on education, training, and mentorship, supporting workforce development through competency frameworks, supervision, and promotion of continuous professional development. Works with clinical and operational leads to enhance service delivery, contributing to governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with local and national standards.

Education/Qualifications Essential
Degree in Podiatric Medicine Certificate in local anaesthesia Post graduate training at masters level or equivalent in diabetes foot care, wound care, high risk foot or minor surgery
Desirable
Non-medical prescriber or willingness to undertake qualification
Experience, skills and knowledge Essential
Highly specialised clinical reasoning skills Evidence of managing risk in unpredictable , uncertain situations to uphold patient safety Specialised clinical skills and theoretical knowledge within full range of podiatric practice Highly developed specialist knowledge and experience in regard to the diabetic and high risk foot Evidence of teaching, supervising and mentoring abroad range of clinicians Evidence of leadership behaviours including autonomous practice, self-reflection, promotion of cultural change Experience of working as a clinical supervisor, designing, developing and delivering programmes of learning in line with evidence based practice to peers and junior staff members. Clinically competent to assess and manage foot conditions involving in diabetes, peripheral arterial disease, wound care, or nail surgery, long term conditions putting the foot at high risk of complications.
Desirable
Evidence of representing podiatry service in meetings, deputiaing for podiatry senior leadership. Experience of developing, delivering and publishing evidence based system wide clinical pathways/guidelines Experience of producing 72 hour reports and root cause analysis
