We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Immunisation Improvement Nurse to join our newly established Improving Immunisation Uptake (IIU) Team. This innovative role has been created to improve childhood vaccination coverage and reduce inequalities across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

This is a varied, influential role combining clinical expertise, family engagement, data informed improvement and system working. You will work closely with GP practices, Child Health Information Services (CHIS), Public Health Nursing teams, NHS England and School Aged Immunisation Services to support sustainable improvements in vaccination uptake.

Main duties of the job

About the role

As a core member of the IIU team, you will:

*Support improvement of uptake across the 0--5 childhood immunisation programme, with contribution to 6--19 years in collaboration with SAIS

*Provide clinical expertise and guidance to GP practices on immunisation pathways and management of under immunised children

*Engage directly with parents and carers to understand barriers, provide reassurance and encourage timely vaccination

*Use validated immunisation data to identify gaps, inequalities and improvement priorities

*Contribute to quality improvement, development of resources, SOPs and evaluation of this pilot programme

This role offers significant scope to shape how immunisation improvement work is delivered locally and to influence service development going forward.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

*NMC Registered Nurse or Midwife -- with professional body *Relevant Degree or Post graduate qualification -- SCPHN or equivalent experience relevant to the role

Desirable

Immunisation training (e.g., Vaccine Essentials)

Experience Essential

*Delivery of childhood immunisation programmes *Understanding of immunisation inequality and its impact on health *Working with children and families *Experience of clinical leadership and decision making *Experience of multi agency working (GP, public health nursing etc.) *Knowledge of safeguarding policies and escalation *Ability to provide compassionate, safe clinical care. *Experience of contributing to audit, risk assessment or quality improvement *Strong communication, listening and engagement skills. *Ability to prioritise workload

Desirable

*Experience of managing complex conversations with families *Experience in data led quality improvement. *Experience supporting staff development or operational change

Additional Criteria Essential

*Demonstrate a clear understanding of the national immunisation programme for children *Demonstrate a clear understanding of the required Clinical governance processes *Demonstrate an understanding of Local ICB area vaccination framework *Understanding of the healthy child programme and national public health agenda *Knowledge of safeguarding children and the legislative framework *Ability to work within a multi-agency environment *Effective and well-developed communication and interpersonal skills *Demonstrate a good standard of IT skills *Ability to interpret data and communicate findings in an appropriate manner.
