Job summary

We are excited to offer a Band 7 opportunity in the Surgical Theatre Suite at the Royal Derby Hospital. We are looking for a Lead Practitioner with a high level of professionalism to help develop our wide ranging theatre service.

Within Surgical Theatres we cover all of the following specialities Ent, OMF, Vascular, Bariatrics, Urology, Colorectal, Upper GI and Emergency Surgery .

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the MDT and will be expected to contribute clinically and managerially across the Surgical Theatre Suite, consisting of 10 theatres which includes a state of the art Vascular/Radiology Hybrid Theatre, a Robotic Theatre and a 24 hour emergency service. The successful candidate will need considerable experience of working in a Surgical Theatre environment with excellent communication skills.

You must show enthusiastic leadership skills and have the ability to lead the Theatre team and the department.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work in conjunction with the Theatre Manager to provide clinical management, responsibility and leadership for Surgical Theatres to ensure a patient focused care delivery. This will incorporate undertaking a co-ordinator role, management of day-to-day activities, trouble shooting and working collaboratively with MDT to maximise efficiency of the service. A keen interest in driving and developing the Surgical theatre suite forward is required.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for financial budgets, targets and cost savings with regular Divisional Finance meetings with the Clinical Theatre Manager.

Ensuring that Guidelines, National and Local policies, Infection control measures, Audit collection and Quality Assurance is maintained and adhered too. From these assessments to provide improvement pathways to ensure best practice is achieved, which is evidencedbased.
