Fixed Term Contract Maternity Cover - end date 1st April 2027. This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Bank Registered Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) to join the Theatre Department at Kettering General Hospital. The role offers the opportunity to work across a range of surgical specialties including Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Urology, Breast, ENT and Maxillofacial surgery, as well as contributing to the out-of-hours emergency service.
As an Anaesthetic Practitioner, the post holder will be required to demonstrate sound knowledge and experience in perioperative practice, alongside a comprehensive understanding of peri-anaesthetic care.
Applicants must be either a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Operating Department Practitioner or a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registered Nurse with a recognised and accredited post-registration qualification in anaesthetics.
Main duties of the job
Ensure a welcoming, safe environment for patients, maintaining high standards of care in line with NMC/HCPC and CQC guidelines.
As an Anaesthetic Practitioner, support patients undergoing surgery by preparing, managing and maintaining specialist equipment and medications, including anaesthetic machines, IV access and airway devices, ensuring safety throughout the perioperative pathway.
Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary theatre team to support the effective day-to-day running of the unit, promoting patient flow and safe care delivery. Plan, implement and evaluate individualised, evidence-based care for a diverse patient group.
Provide supervision and support to junior and unregistered staff, particularly in the absence of the Senior Anaesthetic Practitioner, ensuring consistent high standards across the team.
Demonstrate motivation, flexibility and the ability to work under pressure, contributing as an integral member of the perioperative team to deliver a safe, efficient and high-quality anaesthetic service.
