Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a fixed term locum burns and plastic surgeon within the highly renowned Manchester Burns and Plastic Surgery Service based at Wythenshawe Hospital (adult burns), Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital (paediatric burns)and the Manchester Royal Infirmary (Orthoplastics)
This role would suit a CCT-holder with interests in Orthoplastics and adult and paediatric burn care with additional interests in areas such as major trauma / lower limb reconstruction, paediatric plastic surgery or skin cancer would be welcomed. Recent experience in adult & paediatric burns and collaborative multi-disciplinary team working are all essential criteria.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join our team of twenty eight plastic surgery consultants and will be responsible for supporting the delivery of primarily the orthoplastics service within the department. (please see job description for more information)

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training Essential
Entry on Specialist Register (or, for UK trainees, entry expected within 6 months). Success in Intercollegiate Specialty Examination or overseas equivalent. Fellowship training in microvascular/limb reconstruction (min 6 months) ATLS

Postgraduate Degree ATLS Instructor
Clinical Experience Essential
Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Plastic Surgery. Experience in microsurgical limb reconstruction Experience and interest in General Plastic Surgery. Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems, both emergency and elective, within Plastic surgery. Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients Experience of multidisciplinary teamwork

Management/Administration Essential
Ability to advise on efficient and smooth running of service. Experience of audit and management Ability to organise and manage outpatient priorities, waiting lists and operating lists. Ability to manage and lead surgical team.

Ability to teach clinical and operative skills. Experience of delivering teaching to doctors and allied health professionals.
