Job summary
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Consultant colleague to the department of Ophthalmology which sits within the Digestive diseases and Surgery Clinical Service Unit (CSU).
The post holder will be expected to have a broad experience of the specialty, particularly Medical Retina.A complimentary sub-specialism in uveitis and/or neuro ophthalmology would be welcomed but not essential.
Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC at the time of application, fit to practice and able to demonstrate that they have the required broad-based training, experience and knowledge for the post.
Main duties of the job
This post covers all aspects of a Consultant's professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities.
The post-holder will be part of a team of Ophthalmology Consultants
The post-holder will be expected to provide a range of Ophthalmology Services but specialise in Medical Retina
The post-holder will attend the Ophthalmology clinical governance and business meetings.
A commitment to the Trust's clinical governance and risk strategy is mandatory.
Any other duties necessary for the successful performance of the role, commensurate with the grade.

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Evidence of completing an approved period of training / sub specialist clinical experience in Medical Retina.
Qualifications Essential
MBChB or equivalent / MRCP or FRCS of equivalent to specialty (UK) or equivalent / Member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK) or equivalent / CCT or within 6 months of AAC date / On Specialist Register with GMC and continue to hold a licence to practice
