Job summary
We're looking for a passionate and motivated Chef / Senior Cook to join our Catering Services team at Musgrove Park Hospital. In this rewarding role, you'll help provide safe, nutritious and high-quality meals to patients, visitors, and staff--directly supporting wellbeing and recovery.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment where your skills truly matter.
The shifts for this role is either 6.00am -2.00pm or 10.00-6.00pm and include working every other weekend.
Main duties of the job
Prepare, cook, and present a variety of meals for patient and retail catering servicesEnsure all food is produced in line with food safety (HACCP) standards and Trust policiesSupport specialist diets (e.g. gluten-free, low salt/sugar) to meet patient needsMaintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environmentMonitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and manage deliveriesWork collaboratively with colleagues, patients, and visitors to deliver excellent serviceSupervise and support catering assistants where requiredIf you're passionate about food and want to make a difference in a healthcare setting, we'd love to hear from you.

Qualifications Essential
City & Guilds 706/1&2 or NVQ Equivalent Good standard of English & Maths Level 3 Award in Food Safety - Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate Basic health & Safety Certificate and Allergen Awareness

Level 4 Food Safety Management
Experience Essential
Experience in the preparation of therapeutic diets Working knowledge of HACCP principles and their specific application for catering Working in a similar environment
