Job summary

From 1 April 2023, Integrated Care Board (ICB) became responsible for the pharmaceutical and general ophthalmic services under the terms of the Delegation Agreement with NHS England.

The Central East ICB are hosting the Pharmacy and Optometry team for the three ICBs in the East of England.

To ensure effective delivery of these delegated functions and our statutory responsibilities, the ICB has identified a need to recruit to an existing vacancy within the Pharmacy and Optometry Contracting team.

The role provides an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team working with a variety of stakeholders. The role is mainly based from home however you will be required to attend meetings and visit contractors from time to time at locations within the East of England footprint.

Main duties of the job

As Contract Manager, the post holder will work as part of the Pharmacy and Optometry Contracting team in delivering an effective service, supporting managers and staff to deliver the contracting function of pharmaceutical services and General Ophthalmic Services.

The Pharmacy and Optometry Contracting Team are hosted by Central East ICB however manage the pharmaceutical and optometry contracting function across the 3 ICBs in the East of England.

Pharmaceutical services are highly regulated and the post-holder will be required to support the team to ensure pharmaceutical services are delivered by providers in line with a range of regulations. The post-holder will be required to work to statutory timescales as set out in the regulations to ensure the ICB meets regulatory obligations.

In particular, the post holder will be required to:

Lead on the contracting of pharmaceutical services and GOS contracts across the East of England.

Lead on the development, monitoring and reviewing of pharmaceutical services and GOS contracts with service providers

Liaise with Primary Care Providers and ICB colleagues to resolve queries and inform contract negotiations

Lead in the development and production of information systems and reports to support business decisions, capacity planning and the ongoing monitoring of contracts and regulation.

Knowledge and Experience Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent suitable experience. Experience including knowledge of NHS systems and procedures. Specialist knowledge in relevant discipline (pharmacy/optometry)
