About this role

Job summary

o To work as a skilled member of the Neonatal team, to provide a high standard of holistic family integrated care to babies and their families on the Neonatal Unit.o Ability to promote and establish good relationships with babies and their families.o To possess excellent communication skills and effectively use at all levels within the multi-disciplinary team.o Responsible for assisting in delivering effective, specialised, high quality care, ensuring the area of work runs smoothly and efficiently.o Works under the supervision of a Senior Registered Practitioner.o Works within the boundaries of existing competence, adhering to local and national protocols / standard operating procedures and policies with advice available.o Delivers high standards of compassionate, dignified care, managing their time accurately and efficiently in cooperation of other staff members, tasks and resources effectively.o Undertakes training and assessment of peers and other staff as required.o Assist CSW/MSW staff on a shift-by-shift basis to provide family integrated care.o To support Senior Registered Practitioners in their duties and contribute to the holistic care of patients as part of a Multi - Disciplinary Team.o To ensure that the environment is clean, safe, tidy and welcoming for patients and visitors.o To undertake rotational work within the department including transitional care as / if required.

Main duties of the job

Delivering excellent standards of safe, compassionate care, recognising and incorporating the specific needs of patients.

Following a programme of training and assessment take responsibility for individual patient care under the supervision of a trained nurse as allocated by the nurse in charge, undertake the following procedures/ activities for infants and families requiring special care.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

GCSE C or above in Maths and English NVQ level 4 health and social care or equivalent experience

Desirable

Baby Friendly Initiative train the trainer Infant feeding alternative qualification or evidence of further learning Completion of Neonatal Foundation Programme

Experience Essential

Neonatal experience as a health care assistant/ nursery nurse Understanding of Neonatal care

Desirable

Evidence of taking responsibility for a patient caseload under supervision Exposure to high dependency care of the Neonate Evidence of supporting registered nurses to improve the delivery of complex care
