Job summary

Specialist nursing and therapy roles are critical to the successful delivery of care within Accelerate.The clinical lead will lever their passion for their speciality and their expert skills in the care and management of complex patients for the delivery of excellent outcomes for their patients and commissioners. It is anticipated that the post holder will bring better understanding to the principles of patient flow, clinical systems and their organisation, and staff effectiveness and efficiency.

Research and development (R&D) are important aspects of this role.You will coordinate product evaluations and research projects across the CEI and community wound teams, working closely with the Clinical lead for Community Wound Care, the Director of Wound Care and the Director of R&D & Accelerate Academy.

You will bring creative thinking and innovation to complex issues, utilising expert skills, risk management and insight to effectively manage a variety of situations borne out of complex psychosocial, medical or organisational need. Clinical leadership, partnership working and a solution focused mentality are essentials of this role.

This role is designed to enable the post holder to take full responsibility for the delivery of the outcomes for a defined contractual business area. Clinical and operational delivery remains core to this role.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Lead is considered the expert and will take ownership for the clinical and operational delivery of the clinical service area together with an ability to take a population health rather than a pure individual focus. The post holder will lead their team to deliver excellent clinical care alongside the management of risk and successful deployment of the teams resources. This role is designed to enable the post holder to take full responsibility for the delivery of the outcomes for a defined contractual business area. Clinical and operational delivery remains core to this role; the post holder is accountable to the Director of Wound Care.

Essential deliverables for the Clinical Lead role include:-

The provision of confident expert clinical skills and a depth of knowledge of the population, delivered in an insightful, creative and timely manner.Being solution focussed and collaborative with key stakeholders.Taking responsibility for directly managing clinical risk and escalating identified organisational risk to the Senior Leadership team - SLTAct as the representative and Ambassador for Accelerate, ensuring that you are alert to the impact of you and your team on the reputation of Accelerate within the health economy.Ownership of and responsibility for the delivery of the Key Performance Indicators and clinical audits for your service.

Job description Job responsibilities

The Clinical Lead for the Lymphoedema Team will manage all aspects of clinical delivery in the local health populations. Providing the delivery and the ongoing development for the lymphoedema services and the population it serves.Specifically, this requires focus on:

The continual improvement of the patient pathway Delivery of a population based lymphoedema service; whilst this may primarily focus on lower limb lymphoedema/chronic oedema, this expertise and prompt management to include all aetiologies of lymphoedema and lipoedemaIdentification of and proactive clinical management for all Lymphoedema and specifically those that present with complexity and risk Proactive surveillance of outcomes in relation to timelines to care, prioritisation activity and clinical performance within contract parameters. Interface with programme manager to ensure efficient and effective use of the local dressing optimisation scheme and compression garment spend within the servicesDevelopment and mentoring of the Lymphoedema team Optimising service resources in conjunction with the Clinical Lead for Wound Care in relation to lower limb managementAdditional responsibilities focus on:-

Analysis of footfall of patients within the lymphoedema team in order to stratify and identify effective use of resources in line with the aligned contractDeliver analysis of clinical outcomes in relation to lymphoedemaProactive engagement with service partners to continually improve the patient pathwaySupport the lymphoedema-related education programme collaboratively with the Clinical Lead for Wound Care

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Minimum 3 years nursing experience as a wound or leg ulcer Specialist Community nursing experience Complex leg ulcer related caseload responsibility Expert in compression therapy and theory Experience of working autonomously and in service development Experience of implementing Quality Improvement initiatives Knowledge of risk management Experience of teaching in variety of settings

Publication Delivery of clinical audit Designed training packages Experience of presenting at national conference Multidisciplinary working Line Management responsibility

Skills Essential

Delivery of Clinical Leadership Able to work with minimal supervision in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for patients Experience of supervising and mentoring other health professionals and students Experience of managing conflict within teams and patient delivery Competent with Microsoft software such as Powerpoint and Excel Experience of quality improvement

Experience of: Completing root cause analysis Learning from incidents Clinical research of evaluation Virtual clinical assessment Data analysis Guideline or policy writing
