This role is customer facing and supporting both procurement and clinical colleagues. Reporting into the Materials Management Supervisor, you will be responsible for the provision of a Materials Management service to Theatres within the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI).
This is one of the more manual roles within Supplies as it involves moving/handling of cages, pushing/pulling-you'll get your steps in! As well as some office based work. Attention to detail's key. This is a busy area so you will need to be organised and show strong confident communication skills when working with end users especially when urgent orders are needed. You need to be physically fit, this job will involve manual handling, including lifting. You need to be adaptable to change, sometimes at short notice. Accountability is key in this role-you will be given responsibility for your own areas, you will build a rapport with Clinicians and be their main point of contact. Ensure stock is maintained at the appropriate levels using hand held data capture devices. Distribution of goods as required to each location, putting away stock and managing store rooms to agreed standards.

The team you'll be working with is made up of 4 full time and 2 part time Materials Management Assistants, a Materials Management Supervisor and a Specialist Inventory Supply Chain Manager. You will be working in Theatre stores and entering Theatres when required/appropriate to do so. Materials Management forms part of the wider Supplies & Procurement Department, made up of almost 150 people.

What you will bring to the role A sharp eye for stock — you know your way around inventory management, you understand the procurement life cycle and the importance of stock rotation
Scanner confidence — handheld devices don’t scare you in fact, you and a barcode scanner make an unstoppable duo.
Experience with ordering systems — whether it’s Oracle, NHS Supply Chain, Supply X or similar systems, you can navigate them without breaking a sweat.
A communication style that lands — clear, friendly, professional and effective, whether you’re writing an email or chatting with colleagues.
Solid computer skills — you are confident in the use of Microsoft Office applications including word and excel.
