QualificationsTHIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC): Area of Consideration: This position is open to Areas 1 and 2 Only. Area 1: Current employees of the South Carolina Army National Guard (Tenure 1 and 2) Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Army National Guard Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Army National Guard GENERAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with sufficient knowledge to complete the work of this occupational series. Experience or training which demonstrates the candidates ability to lead other technicians engaged in the duties performed by this occupational series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related the repair function of this occupational series. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. The ability to provide guidance to others in work related directly to this occupational series. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3. Major DutiesThis position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4/G-4), Surface Maintenance Facility. The purpose of this position is to serve as a working leader of three or more Artillery Repairers, WG-6605-10. Performs maintenance, repair, and inspections on the electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components on armored vehicle turrets. Provides technical subordinate guidance and group leadership to the team. Work involves repairing, rebuilding, and modifying mounted, towed, motorized, or shipboard artillery. This work requires detailed knowledge of mechanical, and a practical knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems; the ability to recognize improper operation, locate the cause and determine best method of correcting defects; and the skill to fit and adjust parts and assemblies.
