You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Working knowledge of recreational woodworking procedures and experience providing woodworking instruction are required. Applicant must have experience that has provided a general familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs. This includes any type of simple clerical, supply, or other work in which the applicant has demonstrated alertness, reliability, and the ability to deal with adults or children. This position requires the incumbent to satisfactory complete the applicable background investigation. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Major DutiesProvides beginner and intermediate instruction for the woodworking and crafts program. Performs and/or assists other recreation assistants or specialists in the operation and maintenance of the Wood Hobby Shop or Arts and Crafts. Provides assistance to facility users by explaining function and features of equipment and recreational activities available. Inspects facilities and equipment to ensure safe conditions and cleanliness. Performs minor repairs and adjustments. Issues and collects equipment. Collects, safeguards and deposits fees received from customers. Assists is conducting inventories, maintains records. As necessary, demonstrates basic woodworking techniques used and ensures that safety rules are adhered to. Checks building for security/fire and notifies Fire Department upon closing/securing the shop. Assists in matting and framing, engraving and other areas of Skills Development.
