WG-07, Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Have the ability to perform some tasks of a Pest Controller with supervision. Under guidance of full performance Pest controller learn to mix the proper strength and amount of chemicals based on the size of the area to be treated. Have the ability to recognize pest infestations in structures and grounds. Learn Federal and State laws in relation to mixing, apply and dispose of restricted use pesticides. Make simple repairs to sprayers and other equipment for the pest control function. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. WG-09, Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Pest Controller without more than normal supervision. Determine and mix the proper strength and amount of chemicals based on the size of the area to be treated. Have the ability to determine the nature and scope of infestation in order to identify hazards to structures. Interpret Federal and State laws in relation to mixing, application and disposal of restricted use pesticides. Determine appropriate tools to use such as hand, power and gas operated sprayers, dusters and tractor sprayers, depending on the type of extermination that is required, and have the ability to perform operator maintenance on application equipment as required. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating Ability to Inspect Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Efforts: Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier. Work requires frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods. Moves equipment and furniture as required. Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside. When working outside is often exposed to hot sun for extended periods of time and occasionally to bad weather. Inside work is often performed in structural areas with minimum ventilation and/or limited access. Exposed to dust, dirt, toxic vapors, liquids, powders; infestation of pests that carry diseases; cuts bruises, insect bites and stings. Mixes and applies pesticides and herbicides while wearing respirators, gloves and other personal protective equipment designed to nullify the risk of exposure to toxic dust and sprays which might damage health. Damage to health may occur if appropriate safety procedures are not followed. May be exposed to poisonous insects and plants and to wild and rabid animals. This is an Open/Continuous announcement.
