Preferred Qualifications (in addition to the minimum): Minimum two years' experience providing information security support for comparable-sized organization(s). Working knowledge with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS), NIST Special Publications 800-53, 800-53A, 800-37 and FISMA. or similar cyber security frameworks Experience with evidence gathering and forensic analysis. Familiarity with project management best practices.
Major DutiesThis is a developmental position description. The target level for this training assignment is Job# 4065 NF-2210-04 Sr. IT Specialist (Cyber Security) Specialist. The incumbent performs developmental assignments under closer than normal supervision. Assignments become progressively more difficult until the full-performance level is reached. Non-competitive promotion to the target grade may be affected provided the incumbent is sufficiently experienced; meets all necessary qualification requirements for promotion to the target job; is performing the full scope of the major duties and is functioning under the supervisory controls stated in the position description task statement. Under the lead of Sr. IT Specialist (Cyber Security) Specialist, performs highly structured entry-level work assignments designed to develop broader and more in-depth knowledge and skill needed to perform higher-level assignments such as preparing reports, monitoring, and auditing IT system, and performing assessments to existing IT Systems. This position may also be responsible for occasionally providing off-hours support for change management and participate in on-call responsibilities. Upon completion of various development and support task assignments, incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to an NF-04 Sr. IT Specialist (Cyber Security) Specialist. Works independently, leads security projects and collaborates with team members. Uses superior communication skills, both verbal and written. Performs other related duties as assigned.RequirementsResidency Requirements: Non-U.S. nationals, who are authorized to work in the U.S. and applying for any DHS position, must have resided within the United States, or U.S. territories, for at least three of the last five years.
