1 Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m/d) Department: Department of Historical Studies Full-time/Part-time: Full-time Location: Vienna, AT, 1100 CEU's Department of Historical Studies is announcing a two-year post-doctoral researcher position funded by the FWF Cluster of Excellence "EurAsian Transformations" (https://www.oeaw.ac.at/eurasian-transformations/home). Regional and chronological specializations are open, but applicants should demonstrate the ability to engage in research on transregional phenomena in the history of Eurasia (with the focus on the areas from Central Europe to South Asia) between c. 800 and c. 1850, based on expertise in one or more languages used locally or regionally. Thematically, the proposed research project should relate to one (or more) of the Cluster https://www.oeaw.ac.at/eurasian-transformations/research/research-nodes and/or https://www.oeaw.ac.at/eurasian-transformations/research/transversal-working-groups-twg, and the proposal should outline the connections and/or complementarity to ongoing Cluster projects. Candidates whose work incorporates tools in digital humanities and who can demonstrate potential to actively contribute to the Cluster's developing digital infrastructure are particularly encouraged to apply. As a Cluster member, they would also join a dynamic network of specialists in over twenty regional languages and scripts, historians, art historians, as well as experts in Digital Humanities from the Austrian Academy of Sciences (Host Institution), University of Vienna, University of Innsbruck, and CEU. Duties and responsibilities * The successful applicant will be affiliated with the CEU's Department of Historical Studies * They will pursue a research project related to one of the research nodes and/or transversal working groups of the Cluster (see https://www.oeaw.ac.at/eurasian-transformations/research) * They will publish at least two articles (or equivalent) related to their research as a postdoc * They will actively contribute to Cluster-related transfer of knowledge (i.e. public-facing activities such as podcasts, blogs, poster sessions, etc.) * They will be resident in Vienna for the duration of the fellowship Qualifications * PhD in hand by the start of the fellowship * Research project related to one of the research nodes and/or transversal working groups of the Cluster (see https://www.oeaw.ac.at/eurasian-transformations/research) * There is no age limit, but this position is intended for early-career researchers.
