The Governors at Norton Free C of E Primary school are seeking to appoint a full-time, Level 3 Teaching assistant with experience of working across Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 or with SEND. The post is to start in September 2026. We are seeking to appoint someone with an understanding of the needs of the whole child with an ability to build strong relationships with children, parents and members of the school team. We are seeking someone who has a great work ethic, experience of working as a TA in different settings, a good sense of humour and wants to make a difference to our children!
We are looking for someone who has
A strong understanding of child development, learning and behaviourA nurturing, positive and encouraging presence in the classroomA calm, patient and empathetic approach to working with young childrenAn ability to support emotional regulation and classroom engagementConfident delivering 1:1 support and small group interventionsPractical experience and an understanding of supporting pupils with Autism, neurodiversity and additional needsExperience assisting teachers with lesson preparation and activitiesAn understanding of the emotional needs and learning differences of children, enabling them to build both confidence and independenceExcellent communication with staff, pupils and familiesProfessionalism, reliability and a genuine desire to make an impact and a meaningful difference in the school environmentPaediatric First Aid or a First Aid qualification.
The post will be temporary in the first instance but will become a permanent position after an induction period of 6 months. We are looking for someone who will fit right in with a calm and friendly disposition and a genuine passion for working with children.
