We are currently looking to appoint a dedicated and inspiring part-time Teacher of Economics on a 12-month fixed-term contract from September 2026.

Our school is one of the top sixth forms in the country, with the aim to deliver high quality education and outstanding outcomes to students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. HWSF is selective on both ability and disadvantage and places first go to academically able students from disadvantaged backgrounds. We are based in the heart of Westminster, and work in collaboration with the Harris Federation and Westminster School. Our location gives us many benefits; we hold our assemblies in St Margaret's Church and Westminster Abbey, and we offer students weekly lectures from visiting speakers.

The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a relevant undergraduate degreeHave successful teaching experience at Key Stage 5Understand the theory and practice of effective teaching and learningUnderstand the importance of high expectations and equality of access for all students, and of being a tutorHave knowledge of National Curriculum requirements at KS3 and KS4, and of writing lesson plans, developing resources and assessing students' workBe able to work as part of a team and to develop and maintain positive relationships with all staffHave a good level of ICT skills, ideally including innovative use of interactive white boardsBe able to create a motivating and safe learning environment for all studentsBe able to communicate positively with parents, carers and other external agencies where necessaryHave good written and spoken communication skillsBe able to lead and manage their own work effectivelyHave excellent time management skillsBe able to motivate students and raise their aspirations through a range of strategiesFor a full job description and person specification, please download the Job Pack.
