About this role

Oxford Lifelong Learning in the Department for Continuing Education is seeking to appoint a Departmental Tutor in Japanese language to deliver our teaching offering in this area.

About the role

The role will primarily focus on the design, teaching, assessment, curriculum development and review of adult lifelong learning courses in Japanese language. The role holder will design the content and learning materials within existing frameworks and procedures and make appropriate modifications on the basis of knowledge or experience of the learners. Tutors work collaboratively to ensure high standards are maintained and in accordance with the Department's Mission, Vision and Values. Teaching will primarily take place in the evening.

This is a part-time (0.2 FTE) position, available on a fixed term contract. The post-holder will act as a member of the Oxford Lifelong Learning’s Languages and Cultural Studies team, which includes the Director of Studies. The successful candidate will be teaching in person.

About you

You will be expected to have excellent communication skills in both Japanese and English languages, a postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject, and extensive experience of Japanese language teaching. Familiarity with pedagogical methods in lifelong learning, a teaching qualification or Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy would be an advantage.
