About this role

The role

This Academic Clinical Lecturer (ACL) post is an opportunity for a talented clinical academic to establish themselves as an independent researcher. This post will provide up to four years post-doctoral training with the Bristol Renal research group. The appointee will be expected to complete a CCT in renal medicine within the post.

The successful applicant will split their time 50:50 between clinical training at North Bristol NHS trust or another appropriate trust and academic work at the University of Bristol, appointed at the appropriate point on the clinical lecturer scale. Within the sessions at the University, the main activity will be research although involvement in teaching will also be expected. Time will be divided into blocks of clinical or academic work as is most appropriate especially for the research the appointee plans to pursue, which may include overseas working.

You should apply if :

You have completed core clinical training or are otherwise eligible for higher specialist training in renal medicine in the UK at ST3 level or above. You have submitted a higher degree by research (PhD or MD or equivalent) by the time of applying for the post. You must have been awarded your higher degree by the time of taking up the post. You show outstanding potential for continuing a career in academic medicine.

Candidates will need to hold a current National Training Number (NTN). If a number is not held the candidate would need to clinically benchmark to be able to take up the post.

Additional information

Contract type: Fixed Term Contract (annually renewable)

Work pattern: Full time (or part-time (at a minimum 66% FTE) - to be agreed)

Shift pattern: 40 hours per week
