Job summary

We are a friendly, supportive and forward-thinking GP practice looking to recruit a Salaried GP for 4 sessions per week to join our committed clinical team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a GP seeking a good work-life balance within a welcoming and well-organised practice environment. Our practice serves approximately 4,800 patients and uses EMIS Web. We are committed to providing high-quality patient care while maintaining realistic workloads and protected time for clinical administration. We value open communication, flexibility and staff wellbeing.

The successful candidate will undertake routine GP duties including face-to-face and telephone consultations, clinical administration, repeat prescriptions and participation in practice meetings. There is flexibility around working days and we would be happy to discuss this with the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will provide high-quality primary care services to our practice population through a mixture of face-to-face and telephone consultations. Duties will include assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of patients presenting with a wide range of medical conditions.

The role will also include routine clinical administration, reviewing results and correspondence, processing repeat prescriptions and maintaining accurate clinical records using EMIS Web. The postholder will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective and patient-centred care.

There may be opportunities to develop particular clinical interests and contribute to service development within the practice. We encourage a supportive team approach and value continuity of care for our patients.

Job Summary

To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract. Furthermore, the post-holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

Quality & Continuous Improvement (CI)

Induction Training

On arrival at the practice all personnel are to complete a practice induction programme; this is managed by the Practice Manager.

Learning and Development

The effective use of training and development is fundamental in ensuring that all staff are equipped with the appropriate skills, knowledge, attitude and competences to perform their role. All staff will be required to partake and complete mandatory training as directed by the training coordinator, as well as participating in the practice training programme. Staff will also be permitted (subject to approval) to undertake external training courses which will enhance their knowledge and skills, progress their career and ultimately, enable them to improve processes and service delivery.

Collaborative Working

All staff are to recognise the significance of collaborative working. Teamwork is essential in multidisciplinary environments. Effective communication is essential and all staff must ensure they communicate in a manner which enables the sharing of information in an appropriate manner.

Service Delivery

Staff at Grove Road Surgery must adhere to the information contained with practice policies and regional directives, ensuring protocols are adhered to at all times. Staff will be given detailed information during the induction process regarding policy and procedure.

Security

The security of the practice is the responsibility of all personnel. Staff must ensure they remain vigilant at all times and report any suspicious activity immediately to their line manager. Under no circumstances are staff to share the codes for the door locks to anyone and are to ensure that restricted areas remain effectively secured.

Professional Conduct

At Grove Road Surgery, staff are required to dress appropriately for their role. Administrative staff will be provided with a uniform whilst clinical staff must dress in accordance with their role.

Leave

All personnel are entitled to take leave and your leave entitlement is 6 weeks exclusive of bank holidays.

Secondary Responsibilities

In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

a. Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead

b. Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care

c. Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e. root cause analysis (RCA)
