About this role

Job summary

The Clinical Engineering department provides a comprehensive maintenance service for the broad range of medical devices used within the clinical areas in the trust.

The department consists of a specialist team who are engaged in overseeing all aspects of medical equipment management. This spans from device trials, commissioning new devices, installation through to maintenance and eventual disposal.

The successful candidate must possess an electronic background with medical device technology certification or equivalent training and experience. You will need to be able to work on your own initiative, have good interpersonal skills and a developed ability to communicate well.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Clinical Engineer role will work as a lead specialist engineer within the Clinical Engineering department.

The post-holder is responsible for managing the repair and maintenance of a portfolio of complex critical care medical devices, specialising in the repair techniques required for these devices and dealing with any problems that prove particularly difficult to solve.

The post-holder is responsible for managing key planned maintenance projects/programmes of high priority complex maintenance devices with the aim to achieve maintenance compliance targets to meet CQC regulations.

Job description Job responsibilities

To provide Clinical technical support through carrying out planned preventative maintenance, repair, calibration, safety and acceptance testing on a range of medical equipment.

To provide administrative support to the team including updating job and device records in the medical equipment management database, supporting procurement and the associated record keeping and administering the calibration of test equipment.

To adopt and promote a customer-focused culture, understanding customer requirements and ensuring that communication is timely and effectively

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Medical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification and experience Evidence of continuing professional development e.g. attendance at training courses (manufacturers and specialist)

Desirable

Member of Professional Organisation

Experience Essential

Significant relevant experience within an EBME department Significant planned and corrective experience on: Anaesthesia Units , Ventilators, Electro surgery , Neonatal Incubators, Patient Monitoring Equipment, Defibrillators, Infusion Devices, Suction Units, Endoscopy stack systems

Desirable

Experience in managing and supervising staff and others.

Knowledge Essential

Knowledge of relevant Medical Devcies regulation and guidelines
