Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right person to join the team on The Medical Assessment Unit ( MAU ) at the Royal Derby Hospital as a full time modern housekeeper. You would become an integral part of the unit and will be working alongside the medical and nursing teams as well as members of the Multi Disciplinary team.
You will be responsible for overseeing and providing assistance to the catering and cleaning staff and for the overall running of the unit stores and equipment on a daily basis.
Ensuring a clean , safe and comfortable environment for staff and patients.
The main elements of the role are to ensure that there is a seamless approach to the provision of non-clinical services; ensuring the appropriate delivery of cleaning, catering and minor maintenance, together with other specified tasks, to meet individual patients' needs, as determined by the Ward Senior Sister in accordance with NHS National Standards.
Main duties of the job
You will need to be able to work as an individual and as part of a team, with good communication skills, and the ability to prioritise your own workload whilst ensuring that those your are responsible for are doing there own.
The MHK will be expected to assist with the catering team in providing patients with diet and fluids throughout there stay on the unit.
You will need to ensure we have the appropriate cleaning staff and that they are adequately trained and have the right equipment to ensure a clean and tidy ward.
You will be required to report broken equipment to the relevant departments and will be asked to keep accurate records. As a MHK you will be responsible for the ordering of stock, stock rotation, and putting away of stock, making sure that we are not over using supplies and we are receiving the correct amount of stock in accordance with the unit.
Having a "can do" approach in supporting our unit team to achieve smooth running of our department is also essential.
