About this role
Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Quantitative Trading Systems MONEST develops mathematically grounded, systematic investment strategies for an institutionally oriented asset management platform. We are looking for a CTO who does not separate technology from financial markets but unites both in one person: someone who understands markets and builds the systems that trade them with their own hands. Area of Responsibility • Technology strategy: defining and driving the technological direction of the platform and aligning it with the company’s institutional objectives. • Responsibility for the development, programming and continuous advancement of proprietary trading and investment systems from model design to the productive, auditable implementation. • Product development: shaping, building and evolving the company’s systematic investment products from concept to institutional readiness. • Building and maintaining the quantitative pipeline across the entire process: data preparation, signal generation and validated decision-making. • Ownership of risk management as an equal discipline: position sizing, drawdown control, volatility control and capital preservation as an integral part of the systems. • Ensuring rigorous backtesting, validation and model governance with full traceability of all decisions. • Building a scalable technology, execution and data architecture that meets institutional requirements for reporting, auditability, governance and compliance. • Team leadership: building and leading engineering and IT teams and establishing a high-performing technical organization. • Corporate leadership: contributing to the strategic management of the company and advising executive management on product structure, AMC / mandate solutions, data architecture and regulatory-compliant processes. • Representing the company towards banks, institutional partners and professional investors. The Combination of Technology × Finance This position thrives on bridging both worlds. A system is only as good as the market understanding behind it and market understanding remains ineffective without clean technical execution. We are therefore seeking the rare combination of many years of institutional market experience and the ability to program one’s own models personally without any loss in translation between idea and implementation. Requirements • At least 25 years of experience in financial markets, institutional trading, quantitative analysis or algorithmic trading. • Demonstrable experience developing proprietary trading algorithms and quantitative investment models. • Strong, independent programming skills to implement financial, risk and trading models. • Solid experience in institutional trading, portfolio risk management, capital preservation, position sizing, volatility control and drawdown management. • Sound command of quantitative and statistical methods for market analysis. • Understanding of wealth management, family offices, institutional allocators, HNWI structures and professional investors. • Experience engaging with banks, asset managers, wealth managers and regulatory partners. • Entrepreneurial leadership experience and the ability to take a platform from build-up phase into an institutional structure. • Excellent command of English; German is an advantage. • Negotiation skills, integrity, polished presence and willingness to work internationally. Advantageous • Building or scaling a financial, technology or investment company. • Development of proprietary algorithmic trading systems. • Trading institutional capital or collaborating with banks. • Building risk frameworks, backtesting processes, model validation and performance analytics. • AMC structures, managed accounts, hedge-fund structures or FINMA-adjacent setups. • Capital raising with family offices and qualified investors. Personal Qualities • Analytical, disciplined and numbers-driven. • Technologically strong and hands on in programming. • Entrepreneurial, decisive and resilient. • Communicative, polished and strong in representation. • Of high integrity, trustworthy and long-term oriented. Objective of the Position The CTO will help build MONVEST technologically, quantitatively and institutionally, taking ownership of a scalable, rule-based asset management platform – with mathematically grounded strategies, transparent risk management and institutional readiness, built by someone who masters both disciplines.
