About this role

Job summary

Applicants with paediatric and/or renal experience are encouraged to apply for this Band 6 Paediatric Renal Dietitian role with career progression to Band 7. We also welcome applications from dietitians currently working in paediatrics or renal services who are seeking an exciting career development opportunity.

This represents an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and motivated dietitian to develop advanced skills, knowledge, and experience within a highly specialised service, contributing to high-quality, patient-centred care within a tertiary paediatric nephrology setting.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be the dietetic lead for the tertiary paediatric nephrology service based at the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales. They will autonomously manage acomplex inpatient and outpatient caseload of patients within the paediatric nephrology service.

This will include children with acute and chronic renal failure including those with end stage renal failure requiring renal replacement therapies such as dialysis and transplant, with dietary therapy integral to the patient treatment plan. Dietetic management is integral to the overall treatment plan for this patient group and specialist renal dietitians are a core of the multi-disciplinary team.

Comprehensive training and supervision will be provided to the post holder.

This is a 0.6 WTE position with the potential for additional hours. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Skills Essential

A well developed portfolio of written and verbal communication skills - ability to communicate highly complex sensitive information Ability to work effectively within a team Clinical Supervisory / Clinical Educator skills Behaviour change / motivational interviewing skills.

Education and research skills Welsh Speaker

Experience Essential

Clinical working with a broad range of patients across a variety of clinical settings. Evidence of ongoing CPD

Specialist Knowledge Essential

Knowledge of paediatric or renal dietetics

Qualifications Essential

Degree, or equivalent, or post graduate qualification in dietetics Evidence of current HPC registration. Member of the British Dietetic Association or covered by professional indemnity insurance

Membership of relevant special interest groups Attendance at relevant accredited courses/ conferences Post registration behaviour change training. MSc or evidence of research
