About this role

Job summary

The appointee will join a team of 6 existing consultants who currently deliver a mixture of inpatient and outpatient diabetes and endocrine services for the Trust. Due to the changing dynamics of chronic disease management the structure of the consultant team is under continual review in order to facilitate an efficient interface between primary and secondary care and within the partnerships across UHN ie NGH aswell.

This post will aid us to formalise and standardise a new model of delivery of care for inpatient general medicine with a special interest in diabetes and endocrinology

Main duties of the job

Core Responsibilities

o The successful candidate will be expected to take on the lead for the ward hance the importance of in depth knowledge and experience in not only diabetes and general internal medicine .o Lead on education and supervision of the junior ward doctors targeting an optimal GMC survey reviewo Lead and improve the MDT workings within the inpatient settingo Lead through QIPs on inpatient KPIso To ensure that patient experience and inpatient outcomes high standards are achieved and maintained

Management Experience Essential

Publications in recognised Medicine / Medical Education Journals or Presentations at National Level

Qualifications and Training Essential

Completion of Specialty Training (CST or equivalent) or within 6 months of achieving it in relevant specialty) At least 2 years of clinical experience of inpatient and outpatient Diabetes & Endocrinology (at registrar or consultant level) At least 2 years of clinical experience of inpatient and outpatient Cardiology (at registrar or consultant level) At least 1 year of clinical experience as a consultant at a secondary care hospital

MD, PhD or other higher degree
