Main duties of the job

The operating department at our new Surgical Hub has 6 main operating theatres and 2 Minor Op rooms, The theatres provide an operating service to the following clinical specialities: General Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology, Orthopaedics, Plastics,ENT,Maxillofacial, Ophthalmic,Pain and Spinal Surgery.

You will need to be an active member of the multidisciplinary team by demonstrating a range of essential skills to lead your team .

The department is committed to staff development and offers the opportunity to develop your leadership skills further. Staff will at times be expected to work across site at the main tertiary centre at James Cook University Hospital. Good communication and organisational skills and the ability to lead a team are essential to this post.

Person Specification

Knowledge Essential

Prepared to update and undertake further professional education to meet the knowledge & skills required for the role. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Effectively prioritises and co-ordinates own work. Good information technology skills. Commitment to the needs of the service including a flexible and adaptable approach in the work environment/ work practices. Experience of multi-disciplinary working.

Qualification Essential

Registered Nurse with NMC or ODP with HCPC Nursing Degree/Diploma or ODP qualification

Experience Essential

Multi-skilled scrub experience Prepared to update and undertake further professional education. To meet the required skills for the role. Mixed speciality experience
