Job summary
We're looking to expand and develop the Clinical Engineering team as it provides expert support and partnership to a wide range of senior clinical staff and managers in one of the largest hospital Trust in the country. Our overall goal is to maximise the value we derive from medical technologies, using our expertise in health technology management.
We achieve this in several ways through well-defined strategic workstreams (including those relating to governance and continuous improvement in the areas of forTechnology Evaluation & Research, Medical Devices Safety and R&D governance). We support team members to build experience and develop their contribution across our workstreams, though they may hold responsibilities in particular areas.
A 22-months fixed term, band 7 job opportunity has become available to support several work streams across the Clinical Engineering service; with more focus on following work streams:

Main duties of the job
Looking for candidates to support the delivery various grant-funded activities that include the NIHR Health Tech Research Centre, CITI & GSTT Foundation.
The technological functions that the role supports will drive optimal adoption and safe use of medical technology.
Regulatory and technical input to the development/deployment of novel medical devices. Do you have the attention to detail, collaborative working skills, are you passionate about delivering innovation the right way? Are you able to apply standards, regulation and guidance?
Coordinating and assuring effective risk management and clinical governance. Are you excited about engaging with clinical stakeholders, to assure the safe use of Medical Devices? Are you interested in human factors? Do you have coordination and communication skills? Do you like to present and engage others on topics of importance across the organisation?
Where need arises, you would be expected to contribute to several work streams to support successful delivery of clinical engineering services.

You would undertake and manage service development projects which require a high level of scientific understanding, technical ability, analytical, innovation and communication skills.

Skills Essential
Able to communicate complex information to other professional groups Able to deliver teaching and training: on complex subjects and/or to multiple professional groups Able to supervise individuals or small, and sometimes multidisciplinary groups of staff adept at coordination of activities involving multiple clinical stakeholders
Experience Essential
Broad experience of medical devices and associated management methods; specialist experience in Clinical Engineering practice Knowledge of relevant legislation (including regulation surrounding medical devices, standards, professional and other guidelines) Experience of medical devices safety (incident and safety alerts management, as well as broad knowledge risk management) Knowledge of medical devices training processes
Knowledge/Qualifications Essential
A relevant degree, or equivalent experience A relevant MSc or higher degree
Desirable
State registration as a Clinical Scientist (Or intent to pursue) PhD or equivalent level of knowledge and experience in relevant topic.
