Job summary
This is an exciting and very rare opportunity to join the Safeguarding Team at CityCare as Lead Professional for Safeguarding Children.
You will have extensive knowledge in safeguarding and significant experience working in this field to fill this role. You will support the Head of Safeguarding/Named Nurse to lead the safeguarding agenda for community health services in Nottingham City.
Please note this is a 22.5 hour post, working days and hours are negotiable.
You will be required to work at various sites across Nottingham City. Our service promotes visibility to enable staff to approach us face to face as and when required.
The Safeguarding Team are based at the Meadows Health Centre and is made up of various level professionals with different speciality knowledge covering children, adults, MCA, DoLs and domestic abuse.
The safeguarding team also includes MASH Health based at Loxley House. They are part of the partnership network at the forefront of safeguarding children referrals.
We have an excellent partnership reputation and balance our organisation duties with multi-agency and partnership working across the city. Our team is knowledgeable and friendly one. We welcome new members and provide excellent support and training where required.
Main duties of the job
You will support the development and implementation of safeguarding responsibilities and in turn support all staff in the organisation to perform and discharge their safeguarding duties.
You will empower staff by providing expert knowledge and develop and deliver training along with the rest of the established team.
You will represent the organisation at multi-agency forums and be part of the safeguarding children partnership. You should have extended knowledge across safeguarding adults, MCA and domestic abuse.
You will be responsible for the line management of junior staff and deputise for the Head of Safeguarding/Named Nurse as required.

Job Purpose
To work as part of the Safeguarding Team provided for Nottingham CityCare Partnership (NCCP) which enables the organisation to discharge their full responsibilities in terms of safeguarding adults, children, domestic abuse, and the Mental Capacity Act.The function of this role is to work with the Head of Safeguarding/Named Nurse to continually improve safeguarding arrangements across the organisation, health economy and local community, in partnership with a range of agencies, to improve outcomes for children and adults at risk.To support the development and implementation of safeguarding practice across Nottingham CityCare Partnership, ensuring effective multi-agency safeguarding children, adults, and domestic abuse and partnership working.To support clinical and managerial staff in performing their safeguarding duties and responsibilities through advice to operational services, escalation of concerns to / from other agencies and effective feedback and support from safeguarding meetings and forums.To develop and deliver all safeguarding training across the organisation and proportionate contribution to multi-agency partnership training, including evaluation of team safeguarding training sessions.To represent NCCP at the LSCP subgroups, contribute to discussion and action plans and feedback to the Head of Safeguarding and wider Safeguarding Team.Contribute to inhouse and MA Audit, evaluation and analyse results and implement any actions/change for service improvement.To assist in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of safeguarding processes, actions and outcomes within Nottingham CityCare Partnership and multi-agency partnerships. Supporting the implementation of action plans and lessons learned across the organisation.The post holder will be responsible for the direct line management of some junior staff within the safeguarding team and the co-ordination of activity at team level to ensure the effectiveness of team performance and service provision and continuity.This post holder may be required to act as deputy for the Head of Safeguarding/Named Nurse in their absence, as required and support the Head of Safeguarding with aspects of workforce management of the team.The Lead Professional Safeguarding Children will also work with the Head of Safeguarding and colleagues within the team to ensure continuous service development.
Dimensions
The post holder will be Managerially Accountable to the Head of Safeguarding.This post does not hold any financial or budgetary responsibilities however the role is required to work with the Head of Safeguarding to ensure that the service works in the most efficient, effective, and productive ways possible.This post is responsible for the direct line management of some junior members within the safeguarding team and will provide clinical and safeguarding supervision accordingly. The post holder will also be responsible for the regular evaluation of performance of these roles.

Specialist Knowledge
Expertly apply knowledge of the current legislation, national and local, around promoting and safeguarding the health, welfare and safety of children and adultsDevelop own expert clinical knowledge and participate in the development of others clinical knowledge.To provide the delivery, implementation, and future development of Safeguarding SupervisionTo actively disseminate expertise through publications, presentations, and participation in local and national groups relevant to the Safeguarding agenda.Review research in Safeguarding and advise accordingly.Have a thorough understanding of the impact that parental and carer risk factors can have on the health, wellbeing and safety of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
Governance
To be the author of Rapid Reviews and subsequent action plans on behalf of NCCP in relation to Child Safeguarding Practice Reviews undertaken by Local Safeguarding Partnerships.To support the implementation of recommendations from internal and external safeguarding reviewsTo contribute to the setting and reviewing of standards of Clinical Practice and assist in the implementation of national audit initiatives/ NCCP audit schedule, developing safeguarding action plans.To participate and offer expert advice in safeguarding incidents and notifications of concern.Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and guidelines.To escalate concerns when necessary to Head of Safeguarding and other relevant professionals.Promote patient and public involvement activities in the specialist area, leading to service improvement.To maintain staff and patient information in a way that is secure and in line with confidentiality, Data Protection policies and procedures (manual and computerised).Assist the Head of Safeguarding/Named Nurse to gather evidence to provide internal and external assurance as required and assess organisational and service position in relation to safeguarding standards.In collaboration with safeguarding colleagues and staff within the wider organisation, provide assurance regarding the responses taken to safeguarding incidents, escalating concerns where risks are apparent.To co-ordinate the delivery of the safeguarding service activity at team level to ensure the effectiveness of team performance and service provision and continuity.To monitor the delivery of the service Key Performance Indicators and to challenge where there is underperformance.To use evidenced based programmes, materials, and methods in a range of settings in order to achieve improved outcomes.To work collaboratively with a range of individuals both internal and external to the organisation and act as a point of contact at team level.Through continuous monitoring and engagement in reflective supervision of the team, to ensure that expertise in clinical methods are developed and maintained, that the service offered is high quality.Work effectively as a Lead Practitioner, team member and independently.To provide guidance to peers and ensure that staff within Preceptorship periods or where there is a change in roles / responsibilities, there is appropriate mentorship and identified competencies have been achieved. Management Responsibilities
Management of more junior members within the Safeguarding Team to include annual leave and expenses.Delegate work within the team as requested by the Head of Safeguarding.Monitor performance against Key Performance Indicators.Ensure team members work using agreed pathways / protocols and evidence-based practice.Support staff to make considered judgements relating to safeguarding concerns, utilising the skills and expertise of other professionals, where appropriate.Ensure that training opportunities are offered and undertaken using a fair and equal distribution system at team level, and that training identified is undertaken.Manages and supports staff within the team in a professional and supportive manner in line with relevant policies.

Special Requirements Essential
The post holder will work flexibly across the city. Ability to be flexible over hours and days worked within their contract to meet the needs of the service. Full driving licence and the ability to travel between locations.
