Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an associate Practitioner to work as part of a service designed to support young people as an alternative to hospital admission. This is a full time post.The service operates from the same building as the current Child and Adolescent inpatient Unit. The service provides specialised interventions for young people between the ages of 13 and 17 with a range of mental health difficulties in a mental health day service setting. The hours of operation of the service are 8am-6pm Monday to Friday with occasional working outside of this.The ideal candidate will have experience of working with young people in mental health settings, and having intervention/therapy skills will be advantageous in day to day practice.Working with young people and their families is highly rewarding and can provide high levels of job satisfaction.We would welcome applications from all with experience working with those in a mental health setting who have a range of experiences and skills that align with the job description and main duties of the role.
Main duties of the job
The role of the Occupational Therapy Associate Practitioner is to work with the multi professional team and the Registered Practitioner(s) to assess, plan, organise and deliver clinical care in line with the service pathways and as agreed with supervising clinician(s).
The associate has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan, providing holistic and person centred care and support for people of all ages and in a variety of settings. The associate works independently under the leadership of registered practitioners, working within all aspects of the clinical process.
Associates are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviours relevant to employment and will work to a nationally recognised code of conduct(nursing associates only).
o To provide effective evidence based care for service users referred to the service under the supervision of registered clinicians in order to perform non-complex activities, in line with clinical governance and professional standards.o To be recovery focused, have good risk assessment skills and have a good range of therapeutic interventions supported by evidence based practice.o To use personal effectiveness and knowledge to contribute to the development and delivery of a high quality, cost effective service.o To assist in day to day activities such as meal support, helping to facilitate groups, physical observations including ECG's and taking bloods and other 1-1 patient related tasks.
