Job summary

**This position is open to staff working at the Trust in the 'ECT Family' this includes current East Cheshire NHS Trust employees, both NHSP and ECT bank staff, ISS staff and volunteers at the Trust. Unfortunately, we cannot accept applications from applicants not listed within these groups.**

We are advertising for an Assistant Buyer to join the Procurement Department at East Cheshire NHS Trust, providing a customer-focused tactical buying service including raising purchase orders, resolving invoice queries, and sourcing goods and services through the Trust's eProcurement system in line with standard operating procedures.

The postholder will support the Procurement team with day-to-day procurement expertise, act as an ambassador for the department, influence end-user product choices, and ensure all queries and complaints are handled professionally and positively.

Hours per week: 37.5

Main duties of the job

To provide a customer focused end tactical buying service including raising requisitions into purchase orders, resolving invoice queries, and sourcing Trust requirements via the eProcurement System following the department's standard operating procedures.

Providing day-to-day SBS Procurement knowledge across the client base and administrative support to the Procurement team.

Acting as an ambassador for the department, support the senior team to influence end-user's choice of products and make sure all queries and complaints are dealt with in a professional and positive way.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Educated to GSCE level in Maths and English

Desirable

Knowledge of procurement department procedures for catalogue management-gained through on the job training. CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) Level 2 Certificate

Knowledge & Skills Essential

Ability to work on own initiative and effectively as part of a team Strong organisational skills. Professional & approachable.

Desirable

Experience of negotiating with suppliers and customers in a large organisation and a track record of achieving significant cost reductions. Experience of obtaining competitive quotations Knowledge of procurement department procedures for catalogue management is gained through on the job training. Specialist day to day procurement knowledge

Experience Essential

Ability to communicate in written and oral English. Ability to operate a personal computer with knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software. Ability to understand and work with financial, administrative and personnel processes and practices. Good Communication: written & oral at all levels. Interpersonal, able to work as part of a large team. Able to use initiative and work independently. Well organised, able to prioritise workload

Desirable

Competent with Word, Excel and electronic cataloguing and procurement systems to an intermediate level Be able to identify trends from statistics in order to plan future areas of expenditure which could generate savings opportunities.

Specific Job Requirement Essential

Able to interpret reports and statements Good numeracy skills and able to carry out basic calculations Experience of working in a NHS Administration role

Experience of working in a public sector procurement team
