Job summary
The Pharmacy Department is seeking a motivated and ambitious pharmacist with a strong interest in oncology and haematology to join our Cancer Services team.
Based primarily at Kent & Canterbury Hospital, the post holder will provide specialist clinical pharmacy support across all three chemotherapy day units, the mobile chemotherapy unit, the inpatient haematology ward and the aseptic services unit.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in systemic anticancer therapy within a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team. The role involves clinical screening of SACT prescriptions, contributing to safe chemotherapy pathways, supporting the aseptic unit and clinical trials, and helping to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care for patients undergoing cancer treatment across the Trust.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide specialist clinical pharmacy input for oncology and haematology prescriptions generated within the Trust's chemotherapy units, ensuring systemic anticancer therapy is used safely, effectively and in line with national standards.
They will support the aseptic production unit in the preparation and supply of systemic anticancer medicines and clinical trial products, working within governance and regulatory requirements.
The role includes identifying medication-related risks within chemotherapy services and contributing to the development and implementation of safe systems of practice. The post holder will also provide clinical pharmacy support to the inpatient haematology ward as part of the wider Cancer Services team.

Qualifications & Qualifications Essential
4-year Master's degree in Pharmacy from a UK School of Pharmacy or equivalent as recognised by The General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain and 1 years Pre-registration training Member of The General Pharmaceutical Council of Great Britain Completion of Foundation Stage 1 of a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent demonstrable clinical experience
Desirable
Completion of a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (both Foundation Stage 1 and 2) or equivalent.
Clinical Skills and experience Essential
Communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills. Recognises the value of other staff within teams and works effectively within the team. Able to analyse information and plan actions based on this information. Reflects on own actions and undertakes CPD Able to use computer (Office, JAC etc) Audit skills. The post holder will have experience in hospital pharmacy (post registration) showing clinical experience within various environments
Desirable
Leadership/innovation and motivational skills Service improvement and change management skills Teaching and presentation skills. Undertaken audits and shown implementation of results Experience in oncology, haematology, aseptic services or SACT verification.
Knowledge Essential
Demonstrable evidence of clinical pharmacy experience and further study As a minimum the post holder must demonstrate knowledge of core pharmaceutical needs of patients in various clinical settings. Understanding of patient safety issues relevant to pharmacy services.
