Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in Paediatric Orthopaedics. The successful candidate will be fellowship trained and have the skills and experience to manage the full spectrum of trauma and orthopaedic conditions.
This is a full-time post with participation in the Consultant on-call rota and the post is available to start as soon as possible.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will play a key role in delivering and networking orthopaedic services across Lancashire, working collaboratively with regional partners to support the development of cohesive, high-quality trauma and orthopaedic care. The successful applicant will complement the existing team of established consultants and work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT) within the Trauma and Orthopaedics Directorate.

The appointment will be made subject to the Trust's Terms and Conditions of Service. The post will include clinical sessions at both Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Burnley General Teaching Hospital, and the successful applicant will be expected to contribute fully to both elective and emergency services.

Undertake elective theatre sessions at both Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and Burnley General Teaching Hospital. Trauma theatre sessions will be based at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital. Undertake weekly fracture and elective outpatient clinics at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital, working collaboratively with the Paediatric Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP), Physiotherapy, and Orthotics teams to deliver highquality, patientcentred care. Take responsibility for the training, supervision, and professional development of junior medical staff, including supervision within outpatient clinics and theatre sessions. Actively contribute to service development within the Trauma and Orthopaedics Directorate. Participate fully in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement activities, supporting the ongoing development and assurance of safe, personal, effective and highquality services.

ATTAINMENTS Essential
Full registration with GMC & a licence to practise Inclusion on the Specialist Register or due admission within 6 months FRCS (Tr+Orth) or equivalent accreditation

TRAINING Essential
Recognised higher professional training Sub-specialty interest in lower limb arthroplasty Training in general trauma surgery (Adult & Paediatric) Fellowship trained

Specialist Registrar or equivalent grade experience in Orthopaedic surgery leading to CCT or equivalent
