About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and skilled Band 7 Crisis and Liaison nurse to work within our CAMH service based in Tonteg Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity to professionally develop within a CAMHS Crisis and Liaison role by, joining the team at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

The role involves multi-disciplinary working and requires someone who is committed to working in partnership with other statutory and relevant agencies, promoting and demonstrating versatility and flexibility to meet the needs of those that require support.

The post holder will carry out comprehensive assessments and interventions supported by the team.

Will be required to manage and supervise junior staff.

This specialist post will support the statutory safeguarding functions of the health board.

The post is based on a Monday to Friday working pattern (37.5 hours per week); however, flexibility is required as the role may include 12.5-hour shifts across three days to meet service needs.

Main duties of the job

The purpose of this role is to provide timely assessment of children and young people who present in crisis.

The post holder will function as an autonomous practitioner working independently of and in conjunction with other health care professionals undertaking clinical assessment of children and young people who may have a complex co-morbid physical and mental health needs, working alongside medical, nursing and other professional colleagues to ensure that the most effective care and treatment is provided resulting in safe, timely discharge.

The post holder will be the first point of contact for general hospital colleagues, responding to requests to assess children and young people's clinical needs, demonstrating safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, referring to the on call medical team if appropriate.

The post holder will be responsible for the initial assessment and subsequent facilitation of admission to the Tier 4 CAMHS unit, or AMHS if appropriate.

Registered Nurse Mentorship training/qualification. Evidence of relevant post-registration Continuing Professional Development Highly developed specialist knowledge and experience to Master's Degree level equivalency Clinical Supervision qualification/training

Experience Essential

Substantial post-registration experience including of working with children and young people in a variety of settings Substantial experience of working with children and young people with complex and diverse mental health needs Substantial experience of assessing children and young people presenting with challenging high-risk behaviours, with the ability to formulate risk management plans Clinical and theoretical teaching in a range of contexts Working knowledge of Clinical Governance Evidence of implementing innovation and change in clinical practice Evidence of undertaking clinical audit and/or research in clinical practice Experience and management of working with families in distress and high expressed emotion.
