About this role

Job summary

We are looking to recruit innovative midwives who are passionate about providing quality care to birthing familiesand are dedicated to providing evidence based care.Here in Oxfordshire, we offer women and healthcare professionals a unique set up of our Maternity Services where around 7500 babies are born annually. We have 4 stand-alone Midwifery Led Birth units within the county based at Banbury, Chipping Norton, Wantage and Wallingford as well as offering home births to all areas. There is also an integrated birth unit where around 10% of birthing people choose to go in labour. As a large Tertiary hospital, the John Radcliffe offers a large Delivery Suite with an en-suite birthing pool room, 3 Maternity theatres and a specific Maternity Recovery Ward.

This advert is for band 6 midwives wishing to join both our hospital team.

Main duties of the job

We currently have roles available for Band 6 Midwives within the John Radcliffe hospital setting.

This role is NOT eligible for International Educated Midwives who have never worked in the UK. We will advertise for our 12 week International Educated Midwives programme on a separate advert when we have vacancies. As a tertiary hospital, the John Radcliffe is composed of a Delivery Suite with 3 Maternity Theatres and a specific Maternity Recovery Ward. We work closely with specialist services such as theFetaland Maternal Medicine Unit, Breech Team, and Maternity Bereavement Teams.Midwives employed within the servicehave the opportunity torotate to all our units/departments providing care to both low andhigh riskwomen.

For those working with us, we have a substantial support network for staff, focusing on wellbeingand development.This includes a team of professional Midwifery Advocates, Wellbeing Champions, staff networksand a staff Maternity Psychologist. Working as a midwife the post-holder will:Professional/Clinical Practice:Fulfil the role of midwife, as defined by the World Health Organisation and the NMC Midwives Rules and Code of Practice.

Person Specification

Qual knowl and comps Essential

Registered Midwife with current UK Registration and working in the UK as a Band 6 or above.

Desirable

Mentor qualification NIPE trained
